Happy Father's Day 👨👴

Hi guys!!! Today is a very special day, it is the date here in Brazil we commemorate Father's Day ...

So today I will tell you how that date began ... Tell the story that in 1909, in Washington, USA, Sonora Louise Smart Dodd, daughter of the Civil War veteran, John Bruce Dodd, on hearing a sermon dedicated to mothers, had the idea of celebrating Father's Day. She wanted to pay homage to her own father, who saw his wife pass away in 1898 when she gave birth to her sixth child, and had to raise the newborn and her other five children by herself. Some sources say that Sonora's father's name was William Jackson Smart, rather than John Bruce Dodd.
As an adult, Sonora was proud of her father to see him overcome all difficulties without the help of anyone. Then, in 1910, Sonora sent a petition to the Spokane Ministerial Association, a city located in Washigton, United States. And he also asked for help from a Young Christian Entity in the city. The first American Father's Day was celebrated on June 19 of that year, Sonora's father's birthday. The rose was chosen as a symbol of the event, the reds were dedicated to the living parents and the white, the deceased.
From there the celebration spread from the city of Spokane to the whole state of Washington. Finally, in 1924 President Calvin Coolidge, endorsed the idea of a National Father's Day, and finally in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the third Sunday of June as Father's Day (some say it was made official by President Richard Nixon in 1972).
In Brazil, the idea of celebrating this date came from advertising Sylvio Bhering and was celebrated for the first time on August 14, 1953, the day of Saint Joachim, patriarch of the family.
Its date was changed to the 2nd Sunday of August for commercial reasons, becoming different from the American and European.
In other countries
At least eleven countries also celebrate Father's Day in their own way and tradition.
In Italy, Spain and Portugal, for example, the festival takes place on the same day as Saint Joseph, March 19. Despite the Catholic connection, this date was highlighted as being commercially interesting.
United Kingdom - In the United Kingdom, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, without much festivity. The English do not usually meet as a family, as in Brazil. It is common for children to please parents with cards, not gifts.
Argentina - The date in Argentina is celebrated on the third Sunday of June with family reunions and gifts.
Greece - In Greece, this celebration is recent and emerged from the bustle of Mother's Day. It celebrates Father's Day on June 21.
Portugal - The date is celebrated on March 19, the same day as Saint Joseph. It came about because it is commercially interesting. The Portuguese do not give much importance to this celebration.
Canada - Canadian Fathers Day is celebrated on June 17th. There are not many family reunions because it is still considered a more commercial date.
Germany - There is no official Father's Day in Germany. The German dads celebrate their day on the day of the Ascension of Jesus (date varies according to Easter). They usually go out on the streets to ride a bike and have a picnic.
Paraguay - The date is celebrated on the second Sunday of June. There the parties are like in Brazil, family reunions and gifts.
Peru - Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. It's not a very special date for them.
Australia - The date is celebrated on the second Sunday of September, with much publicity.
South Africa - The celebration takes place on the same day as Brazil, but it is nothing traditional.
Russia - Russia does not properly have Father's Day. There men celebrate their day on February 23, called "the day of the defender of the motherland" (Den Zaschitnika Otetchestva).
So today I wish the "Parents" much love, peace, prosperity, health, and I mean that Father is the one who creates, can be grandfather, uncle, brother. Father is he who gives love, caring, teaches ... So celebrate this day with your "Dad" ...
I hope you enjoyed the story ...
